Overview

Upbring School Arts and Science seeks Before & After School KidsZone Group Leaders for its before and after school program who are committed to providing student care and instruction for all children in the classroom. Upbring’s Education statement of mission of Faith, Education and Empowerment requires successful candidates to demonstrate high standards for the achievement and development of all students and foster a safe, joyful, fun and nurturing learning environment in which students will thrive with an emphasis on loving words and actions. The Before & After School Group Leader is an hourly employee who will provide program activities for children before and after the school day. Activities include homework time, art projects, cooking projects, games, free play and other creative activities/ideas that this employee will bring to the table. Upbring School of Arts and Science meets and exceeds Department of Family and Protective Services standards.

 

Responsibilities

Essential Duties

  • Provide a safe environment for all program participants
  • Design and implement activities for the program using creative, interactive and innovative “out of the box ideas” to supplement current curriculum
  • Develop and maintain rapport with students, parents and staff by treating others with friendliness, dignity and consideration.
  • Deliver a learning experience that will teach/lead students into a growing relationship with Christ and assist students to achieve their potential
  • Adhere to and exemplify Upbring’s Mission, Vision and Values while helping to create a supportive environment where our children, staff and visitors can learn and build a loving Christ-like character
  • Cooperate and support the administration in implementing all policies, procedures and directives governing the operation of the school
  • Be open to change and be a change agent
  • Keep students, parents and the administration adequately informed of progress or deficiencies and give sufficient notice of failure
  • Suggest and/or create communication strategies that could be adopted as best practices
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality on private and personal matters
  • See to it that all children are signed in, and their parents or responsible parties sign the child out while upholding above average standards for care and safety for all our students, staff and visitors.
  • Maintain a clean and attractive environment
  • Maintain accurate and complete records, including but not limited to: attendance, behavior, parent communication, etc.
  • Provide input and constructive recommendations for administrative and managerial functions in the school
  • Perform any other duties which may be assigned by the administration 

 

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications

  • High School Diploma required
  • Ability to manage the classroom and work well under pressure
  • Build a positive rapport with children, parents/guardians and team members
  • Communicate professionally and interact with all levels of management in a clear and concise manner
  • Prepare quality, well-written documents, reports and correspondence
  • Demonstrate strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing tasks, requests and projects and meet deadlines
  • Exhibit strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Work independently and within a team with limited supervision; ability to take initiative

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or different field with a minimum of 30 credit hours in Early Childhood Education
  • 2 years of experience in early childhood education or with infants and toddlers in an educational setting
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish with fluency in written and conversational highly preferred (based on service area and service population)
  • Spiritually mature Christian active in the worship life of his/her church

This position will require bending, kneeling, twisting, and reaching, standing and sitting for long periods of time, frequent walking, and the ability to carry, move or lift up to 50lbs with or without assistance. This position will require indoor and outdoor activity throughout the year.
