  • Overview

    The Resource Coordinator is responsible for researching and gathering information regarding goods and services that will support the case management team in providing disaster survivors with needed resources to complete their recovery. This position will liaison and work throughout the assigned geographic area to engage local non-profits, businesses, government agencies and philanthropic organizations in the recovery efforts. The Resource Coordinator will work in a coordinated effort with the Disaster Case Management Team to holistically support the recovery efforts of survivors in accordance to Agency standards, funding guidelines, and other federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.

    This is a grant funded position for a specified period of time per the grant and/or funding.


    Essential Duties  

    • Work closely with Disaster Case Management Team to identify unmet needs, gaps in services and trends for needed resources
    • Research and gather information on local, state and federal resources that can be used to meet the needs of clients
    • Act as a liaison and conduct outreach with local long-term recovery groups, non-profits, businesses, government agencies, and philanthropic organizations
    • Enter identified resources into database and update accordingly as changes occur
    • Create internal resource materials or repository to best support the teams’ needs
    • Create, or assist in creating, outreach or marketing materials as needed
    • Attend outreach events and community meetings to educate on the program
    • May provide advocacy for cases and situations with complex or unusual needs
    • Ensure all information is entered into required systems and databases to align with mandatory reporting deadlines
    • Ability to communicate effectively across various levels of external partners as well as internal staff to best understand and effectively communicate needs
    • Research and identify possible funding or grant opportunities to support client needs
    • Gather necessary data to support and assist in preparing grant or funding requests
    • Prepare, or assist in preparing, any necessary funding or programmatic reporting
    • Other duties as identified to support the overall success of the program and client recovery outcomes
    • Position requires regular travel across assigned geographic area


    Working Relationships

    • Work in partnership and in collaboration with local disaster response and long-term recovery teams and the community to ensure clients are receiving the highest quality of services that meet their needs
    • Develop and maintain positive and strong working relationships with the disaster response and long-term recovery teams, Case Managers, program staff and volunteers to meet the needs of the clients, program goals and objectives and to ensure the program is operating in an effective and efficient manner
    • Work as a team player and exhibit professional behavior and a positive attitude with both internal and external clients that reflects positively on the Agency and is consistent with Agency policies and practices
    • Work collaboratively with other members of the Resources Consortium Team to create best outcomes for clients across the program


    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Business, Marketing, or closely related field; related experience may be considered in lieu of education
    • 2 years of business related experience
    • Ability to establish rapport, trust, and ethical boundaries with service population
    • Professional decorum to appropriately represent agency in public settings
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to follow instructions and work independently with minimum supervision
    • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks
    • Strong people and interpersonal skills with the ability to apply compassion and empathy, while dealing with stressful and difficult situations while maintaining strict confidentiality at all times
    • Reliable personal transportation, valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; experience using web-based data collection systems


    Preferred Qualifications

    • Knowledge of long term disaster response systems
    • Existing knowledge of state, county and local community-based organizations and resources
    • Experience with supporting recovery efforts of disaster survivors

    Physical Demands & Work Conditions

    • This position requires sitting and looking and using a computer for long periods of time
    • Lift, push, pull, move up to 25 lbs.
