What You'll Do

The Benefits and Compensation Analyst creates exceptional employee experiences through the seamless administration and execution of benefits and compensation programs. The Benefits and Compensation Analyst ensures Upbring is paying competitively and equitably to attract, engage and retain employees. This role is responsible for maintaining regulatory compliance while staying abreast of emerging market trends to keep benefit and compensation programs competitive and aligned with Agency strategy and compensation philosophy.

Work Standards

  • Compare and evaluate existing Agency benefits with those of other employers in comparable markets by analyzing other benefit plans, surveys, and other information as needed, analyzing results of surveys for recommendations
  • Implements the compensation strategy including pay transparency, internal equity, compensation analysis and recommendations; ensures compensation program parameters align and support Agency objectives
  • Owns the process for developing and maintaining job descriptions, including accurate job classifications for each position in the Agency; Maintain, create new descriptions and work with leaders to align new job descriptions with current ones to maintain consistency across programs and departments
  • Conduct scheduled job description reviews as required by programs and policies
  • Ensures organizational compliance with Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), Affirmative Action(AA) and other employment laws and regulations
  • Ensures Agency and plan compliance with the applicable provisions of continuation of insurance coverage, Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other state, federal benefit laws
  • Maintains knowledge of economic conditions, labor market, and other factors related to ensuring the Agency provides competitive and reasonable benefits and compensation scales and structures
  • Researches and compares incentive compensation plans offered by demographically comparable organizations; assess competitors plans and makes recommendations for enhancements or improvements required to keep the Agency’s plans competitive and effective
  • Conduct market data analysis utilizing salary survey software and other resources; Provide ongoing benchmarking against survey data to determine competitive compensation ranges or recommendations.
  • Supports the development and integration of new and/or existing rewards programs, policies, and procedures to ensure that programs are market competitive, internally equitable, and cost effective.

Communication

  • Determine, implement, and share metrics that assess and monitor the effectiveness of ongoing benefits and compensation programs and new initiatives
  • Owner and subject matter expert for People and Culture information systems related to compensation and benefits; provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) support for internal users and integration with external vendors
  • Develop and distribute Annual Total Compensation statements to all full-time staff
  • Provide required reporting to managers and program leadership related to employee salary
  • Create and conduct training for managers and supervisors as a compensation and benefits subject matter expert
  • Prepare and communicate reports, such as organization flow charts and career path reports to summarize job analysis and evaluation and compensation analysis information
  • Manage data in accordance with the Agency’s record retention policies and procedures and state and federal laws and regulations

Fiscal Management

  • Responsible for timely preparation and submission of self-bill reporting for supplemental benefit plans
  • Facilitates accurate and timely delivery of employer contributions and employee payroll deductions to carriers, plan administrators, or other appropriate service providers.
  • Monitors administrators and insurance carrier’s reports to ensure compliance with plan requirements

Teamwork

  • Assists with the development and communication of policies and procedures for administering pay practices
  • Collaborate with Program leadership to make recommendations for salary adjustments or increases and budget considerations; Investigate and respond to salary review requests.
  • Actively and regularly solicit employee feedback on all total rewards programs through various methods; analyze data and propose program enhancements and changes to positively impact the employee experience, their health and wellness
  • Crosstrain and support Benefits team with leave of absence, enrollment assistance; serve as Benefits point of contact during times of influx
  • Collaborate with Benefits Manager to ensure Affordable Care Act (ACA) compliance and keeps abreast of regulatory changes affecting benefit plans and ensures Agency benefit plans and practices are following external regulatory requirements
  • Manage Agency’s compliance with federal contractor requirements inclusive of OFCCP annual affirmative action planning and analysis of job data; partner with Talent team and managers to meet goal requirements
  • Partner with Finance and Program leadership teams on reporting, such as bi-annual time & effort certifications
  • With the Director of People Development and Benefits, effectively plan and direct the implementation and administration of all benefit plans including co-leading annual open enrollment efforts
  • Facilitate implementation and enrollment for insurance and retirement plans with the Benefits and Leaves Manager
  • Collaborate with hiring managers and talent acquisition team to attract, hire, and retain top talent in alignment with Agency policy, procedure, and compensation philosophy
  • Effectively manages and collaborates with vendors and external partners, including managing performance of contracts to ensure maximum value of service delivery

Building Relationships

  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships and partnerships with all levels of leadership, staff, and vendors
  • Work as a People and Culture professional exhibiting professional behavior, reliability and a positive attitude with both internal and external clients that reflects positively on the Agency and is consistent with Agency policies and practices
  • Lead focus groups to collect employee feedback on specific issues or topics related to benefits and compensation.
  • Partner with People and Culture team members, other Headquarters and Program employees to educate staff on our offerings and compensation philosophy

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree (Human Resources, Business Administration, or another related field) required and/or a combination of education and relevant experience in lieu of degree
  • Two years of experience and advanced knowledge in Benefits Administration, Compensation Practices, Benefit and Employment Law, Affordable Care Act (ACA), Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), American with Disabilities Act (ADA)
  • Proven experience gathering, analyzing data, and providing (or presenting) analysis for human resources related functions; experience using an HRIS system
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, HRIS (UltiPro/UKG), and ATS (ICIMS)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP), PHR, SPHR or SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP certification
  • Experience implementing or administering a compensation plan
  • UKG HRIS experience
  • Bilingual in Spanish speaking/writing
  • Non-Profit and Federal Contractor Compliance experience

  • Demonstrated ability to gather and analyze information and translate into empirical data (metrics, structured reporting, data driven analysis); ability to create scorecard and dashboards with relevant information to influence strategic planning, decision making, and meet department and Agency goals and objectives
  • Strong time management and agency skills with proven ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal and people skills with the ability to work independently, within a team environment and with a diverse group of people at all levels of the Agency
  • Attentive to detail, strong project management skills and knowledge of competitive pay practices.
  • Strong working knowledge of human resources practices and trends, regulatory changes, and innovative technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management
  • Demonstrated ability to perform with integrity and trustworthiness with sensitive and confidential information
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities

Physical Demands & Work Conditions

  • This position requires sitting and looking and using a computer for prolonged periods of time
  • Position may require long hours, inclusive of weekends based on business or project needs
  • Position may make program visits to child facilities and have limited exposure to children
  • Lift, push, pull, move up to 25 lbs.
