Upbring is seeking a Senior Accountant to play a critical role in managing general ledger accounts, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and streamlining accounting processes. What You'll Do

The Senior Accountant will aid in monthly general ledger management, managing key G/L accounts to ensure monthly close and other financial processes run efficiently and accurately.

Responsibilities

  • Lead key general ledger functions managing accounts such as investments, prepaids, gift restrictions, and payroll entries to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Support month-end close & reconciliation by reviewing balance sheet accounts and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
  • Analyze budget trends & expenditures to provide insights that help streamline costs and improve financial efficiency.
  • Manage private grants & contributions accounting, ensuring accurate reporting for internal stakeholders and donors.
  • Support audit preparation by providing analytical insights and ensuring compliance with various funding sources.
  • Review credit card coding & train staff to improve accuracy and efficiency in financial transactions.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams to align financial strategies with organizational goals.
  • Assist with financial statement audits, tax filings, and regulatory requirements as needed.
  • Identify & implement process improvements to enhance accounting efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment with financial best practices.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related area of study; additional years of experience will be considered in lieu of required education
  • 3+ years of accounting experience
  • Working knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
  • Experience in supporting internal teams with a customer service approach
  • Proven skills in written and verbal communication, especially interpersonal skills
  • Integrity, professionalism, and dedicated work ethic
  • Success in working on a team
  • Personal and professional confidence accompanied by a sense of humor and empathy toward others
  • Self-motivated and proven ability to work as a member of a high-performance team
  • Advanced level of proficiency with Microsoft Office programs

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of accounting experience
  • Certified Public Account (CPA) or master’s degree (MBA, MPA)
  • Public accounting experience

Physical Demands & Work Conditions

  • This position requires sitting and looking and using a computer for long periods of time
  • Position may work in a child facility and have limited exposure to children
