Your Mission in Action

The Enrollment, Recruitment, Selection, Eligibility, and Attendance (ERSEA) Specialist position is responsible for establishing full enrollment, determining eligibility, developing recruitment plans and activities, properly implementing the selection criteria, and tracking attendance. The ERSEA Specialist also develops and implements appropriate training and technical assistance, establishes and maintains effective recordkeeping systems, and actively participates as a team member in community networking.  

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement recruitment and enrollment plans aligned with program and community goals, including community assessment needs 
  • Ensure timely follow-up on program inquiries and maintain an updated tracking system for potential enrollees. 
  • Review and approve all eligibility documentation for families prior to enrollment 
  • Collaborate with Family Engagement Advocates to monitor and maintain funded enrollment levels while effectively managing waitlists 
  • Conduct ongoing monitoring of all data as it relates to ERSEA to ensure accuracy and compliance 
  • Collaborate with staff and families to ensure policies and procedures meet program goals 
  • Participate in community outreach, public events, and stakeholder engagement for program awareness 
  • Cultivate and maintain positive, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including teachers, directors, and families, to create a supportive and engaging learning environment 
  • Ensure all Program Information Report (PIR) data is current and accurate in the data management system  
  • Comply with company policies, procedures, Child Care Minimum Standards, and HSPPS regulations and standards; always ensure the health and safety of each child in care, and support the overall well-being of children 
  • Use discretion and confidentiality in all matters related to families, staff, and Head Start/Early Head Start programs as appropriate 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Family and Child Services, Psychology, Early Childhood, or related field
  • 2 years’ experience in Early Head Start and/or Head Start related experience, with 1 year being direct ERSEA or Family Engagement Advocate related experience
  • Ability and willingness to obtain Family Development Credential (FDC) within 12 months of date of hire

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Education, or related field  
  • Three (3)years’ experience in direct ERSEA-related experience preferred 
  • Family Development Credential (FDC) 
  • Prior experience working in low-income diverse communities  
  • Knowledge and experience with Child Plus data management system 
  • Knowledge and experience with ERSEA Head Start Performance Standards  
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) based on service population and area

Physical Demands & Work Conditions
  • This position requires sitting and looking and using a computer for long periods of time
  • Position works in a child facility and has constant exposure to children
  • Position requires frequent standing, walking and time being mobile to coordinate events
  • Lift, push, pull, move up to 50 lbs
