Your Mission in Action

The Teacher’s Aide will provide individual and /or group instructional support to the children, as well as assist classroom teachers with planning and implementation of developmentally appropriate instruction, create and foster a positive learning environment with varied experiences which will enhance the social, physical, emotional, and cognitive development of the children in accordance to the Texas Education code, Casa Gracia NC performance standards, the Agency’s school readiness goals, and federal, state, CARF and local regulatory requirements. 

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Pre and Post Testing to all children in care ages 0-17 years of age 
  • Take daily attendance for each class period and document to ensure accuracy 
  • Assist in the planning, preparation and development of various instructional materials while considering factors such as the individual needs of the child, his/her abilities, learning level and physical limitations 
  • When the teacher is absent, must be prepared to oversee lesson delivery, ensure children are engaged and on task, and maintain classroom management in accordance with school rules 
  • Assist with the instruction of individual, small and large groups as assigned by the teacher to meet the specific needs of the child or children 
  • Collaborate with the teacher to ensure that established schedules are followed consistently to help facilitate smooth transitions between activities minimizing downtime and keeping students focus 
  • Assist the teacher with physical education class by setting up equipment and materials, supervising and encouraging children to do their best during activities, and providing clarification on rules and techniques as needed 
  • Make copies, prepare class materials, and organize worksheets, handouts, and other materials for the teacher to present to children as required 
  • Maintain classroom cleanliness by disinfecting all materials before and after distribution to the child, to ensure they are clean and safe to use 
  • Assist the teacher with classroom behavior management by continuously applying positive reinforcement tactics and addressing behavioral issues in accordance with established school rules 
  • When Lead Techer Aide is out, will be appointed as the point of contact for the education department and assume responsibilities as the Lead for the day 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma
  • Experience in educational setting preferred
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Bilingual in Spanish based on service population and area
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement early childhood curriculum
  • Demonstrated ability to manage the classroom and work well under pressure
  • Ability to build a positive rapport with children, and team members
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally, interact with all levels of management in a clear and concise manner
  • Prepare quality well-written documents, reports, and correspondence
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing tasks, requests, and projects and meet deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team with limited supervision; ability to take initiative
  • Strong computer skills; high proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, EXCEL, and Outlook)

  • Associate degree in education or relevant field

Physical Demands & Work Conditions
  • This position requires sitting and looking and using a computer for long periods of time 
  • Position works in a child facility and has constant exposure to children 
  • Position requires frequent standing, walking and time in units/cottages which are areas where children reside 
  • Lift, push, pull, move up to 125 lbs.
