Your Mission in Action

This position will have oversight of the Escort Youth Care Workers and provide them with their flight assignments, verify and coordinate flight arrangements and any other transportation needs. This position reports to the Lead Case Manager. These duties are in accordance with agency policies and procedures, licensing standards, Federal, State, Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), and local regulatory agencies.  

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with Lead Case Manager and Co-Lead Case Managers that will provide flight arrangement and unaccompanied children information for reunification purposes 
  • Works directly with Escort Youth Care Workers with reunification of unaccompanied children and monitors progress of escorts departures and arrivals back to the program 
  • When Escort Youth Care Workers are transporting minors by vehicle, ensure safety before, during, and after transportation by adhering to all DOT safety and driving guidelines and laws; ensure unaccompanied children are adhering to established safety protocol during travel 
  • When utilizing fleet, work with Escort Youth Care Workers to conduct pre-and-post trip operational (e.g., maintain cleanliness of vehicle) and safety inspection of vehicle (e.g., first aid kit, fire extinguisher) and immediately notify management if vehicle does not meet operational or safety standards 
  • This position will be required to evacuate during an emergency evacuation as needed   
  • Communicates with Escort Youth Care Workers to keep them up to date for their upcoming travel itinerary  
  • Ensures Escort Youth Care Workers are submitting reimbursements/receipts for every reunification  
  • Ensure escorts are completing mileage logs accurately when traveling by vehicle  
  • Report all incidents and accidents to management in a timely manner according to agency policies and licensing standards; keep management informed of any changes in travel or transportation plans and recommend possible solutions 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications 

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent 
  • Must be 21 years of age or older per licensing requirements 
  • One (1) year of transportation experience; preferably in residential care
  • Valid Texas Driver’s license and proof of auto insurance; ability to meet Agency insurance provider guidelines as an insured and approved driver and maintain a good driving record 
  • Ability to use assistive devices to board and un-board unaccompanied children and physically secure them in the vehicle   
  • Ability to give clear verbal communication, written and oral instructions 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Two (2) years of experience transporting children and individuals  
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish based on service area and service population)

Physical Demands & Work Conditions
  • This position requires sitting and looking and using a computer for long periods of time 
  • Position works in a child facility and has constant exposure to children 
  • Position requires frequent standing, walking and time in units/cottages which are areas where children reside 
  • Lift, push, pull, move up to 125 lbs.
