What You'll Do

The Advocacy Intern will support the advocacy team in various tasks and projects aimed at advancing policy initiatives and strengthening community and legislative engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct legislative research and track policy developments relevant to child wellbeing
  • Review studies, interim reports, and legislative committee charges related to child welfare
  • Monitor and analyze legislation (filed previously, passed, or potential options for Upbring to consider in the future), regulatory matters, and executive orders
  • Assist with grassroots software, Voter Voice, including growing its base, supporting messaging, and coordinating campaigns
  • Contribute to advocacy-related social media content and engagement
  • Support education efforts for Upbring stakeholders (internal and external) on policy priorities and advocacy initiatives

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Communications, Journalism, Social Work, or a related field
  • Strong research and analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to tailor messages for different audiences
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork abilities
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced advocacy environment

Physical Demands & Work Conditions

  • This position requires sitting and looking and using a computer for long periods of time 
  • Lift, push, pull, move up to 25 lbs.
